what is better a full body workout every other day, or just concentrating on 2 muscle groups every other day?
I do a full body workout every other day, I notice that I am getting minimal gains. Is it better to do what I am doing or should I switch to working out 2 different muscle groups every other day like on Mondays- chest, tri's, Wed- arms and back and Fridays- legs and shoulders. What routine would give me the best gains?
Definitely a SPLIT routine and not full body routine like you are currently doing. SPLIT is what most bodybuilders do to gain muscle. Yes 2 or 3 muscle groups is perfect.
I would train 3 or 4 times a week. That is what most people do.
I would do very similar to what you suggested.
If you trained 3 times a week:
M - Chest, Triceps, Shoulders
W - Legs, Abs
F - Back, Biceps
I would keep shoulders with chest triceps since they are PUSHING movements. Back and biceps are PULLING.
However, very good to mix things every 2 months or so, keeps the body guessing and doesnt allow it to adapt thus more muscle. All routines are good as long as you give max effort during whole workout. Workout should last between 45 and 90 mins.
Train, eat, sleep and you will see big gains! Good luck
