Can you guys help me with a math problem?
Here is the question.
Mrs. Baker's science lab has some stools with 3 legs and some chairs with 4 legs. If there is a of 158 legs on the stools and chairs, and 42 total seats in the room, how many stools and chairs are in Mrs. Baker's science lab?
Please explain with specific steps on how you got the answer. Thank you!!!!!
Ok, so just to get an idea of things,
Say half of the seats are stools and half are chairs.
21x3=63
21x4=84
63+84=147
So there are more chairs then stools
Now we need to get 11 more legs, so we add those legs to the stools making them chairs now.
21-11=10
21+11=32
So we have 10 stools and 32 chairs which leaves us with 158 legs:
10x3=30
32x4=128
30+128=158
