How to rewire electronic from size D battery to 110 volt?

I would like step by step instructions on how to rewire or bypass the wiring of my baby's bouncer. The bouncer uses size D batteries , I would like to rewire that so that it could be plugged into the wall. I know it is possible, I just need directions, and please bare in mind the risk of electrical shock when giving me the step by step instructions.

Thank you for taking time to look at my question and to offer your opinions.

There is already a good answer here but I felt I must reply to what Genericsoda has answered. Putting dead batteries inside a device and then wiring a power source to them is DANGEROUS!!! You are then charging the dead alkaline batteries with your power source. Alkaline batteries (or the cheap dollar store carbon zinc batteries) are NOT rechargeable! They will get hot, leak and can explode and start a fire! Even if you try to protect that by taping over the old battery's positive contact, I wouldn't trust it. How can you guarantee the tape will stay in place? How can you guarantee the wire won't poke through the tape? Regardless, old batteries WILL leak over time! I just don't want to see anyone getting hurt, especially a baby, due to someone's ill-advice here on Yahoo Answers.

Also, the current can not be averaged based on Googling some figure of D cell batteries. Rechargeable batteries have an amp hour rating which shows how long they will last based depending on the amount of current drawn from it but doesn't tell you how much current can be drawn from it at one time. You really need an ammeter to determine the amount of current drawn from the device. Plus you'll want to add some padding onto that figure. It's okay to have more current available at the power source, but voltage should be the same. If the device doesn't have a DC outlet then wires could be soldered on. This is all fine from a technical standpoint but still, I'd be concerned about safety. A kid could haul on that cord and strangle themselves with it. Even if they haul it out they could short the wires causing a fire or at least a melted wall transformer.

Your best bet is, as another answerer already suggested, rechargeable batteries. Real D cell NiMH rechargeables are expensive, but have huge capacity and will last a long time per charge. You buy two sets and the only uninterrupted play your child will have is the few seconds it takes you to swap the batteries. There are some cheaper D cell rechargeables on the market which are just AA rechargeable cells in a D cell sized package. You can tell by the amount of mAH listed on the battery. If it's only 1500mAH or so, then it's probably a AA cell in a D package. If it's around 7000-10000mAH, then that's a real D cell.

I'm not looking for a best answer on this one or stealing it from someone else who responded first and probably deserves it. I'm willing to sacrifice one against my average for safety's sake. I just don't want someone's baby to get hurt from bad advice.
